Klamath Basin Water Dispute: Correspondence

Klamath Water Crisis occurred in 2001, after an extreme drought. The Bureau of Reclamation failed to supply water to the local farmers, keeping it in Upper Klamath Lake to protect the habitat of the endangered suckerfish. Collection contains miscellaneous correspondence and documentation on the Klamath Basin Water Crisis of 2001.

Klamath Ice and Cold Storage Warehouse Collection

Abstract Donald Henry Nabakowski moved to Klamath Falls in 1925. He worked at Klamath Ice and Cold Storage, eventually becoming Chief Engineer and later Plant Superintendent before retiring in 1978. Klamath Ice and Cold Storage was founded by Andrew McCornack Collier in 1918. Collection consist of a collection of papers donated by D. H. Nabakowski’s daughter Donna W. Masterson. Klamath Pioneers: Photograph

Abstract

Captain Oliver Cromwell Applegate was an Oregon-native born in 1845. He helped open the Applegate Trail and edited the Klamath Republican newspaper. The Denny Creek marker commemorates the camping site of pioneer John Fremont during his 2nd journey of exploration (1846). Collection contains paper-framed photograph of Captain Applegate in front of the Denny Creek marker, in color.

Klamath River Commission Records

Nelson Reed was a businessman, civic leader, and philanthropist in the Klamath Basin of Oregon and California. He was appointed chairman of the Oregon Klamath River Commission, the legislative study group that developed the Klamath River Compact with the California Klamath River Commission in 1957. Collection contains a folder with donation records, deeds of gift, and thank you letters from Nelson Reed.
